She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1985 and completed Internal Medicine training at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 1992, followed by hematology training at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1995. She served as a faculty member at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine from 1995 to 2012, became Associate Professor in 2000 and Professor in 2006. In 2002, she received training at the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff on the use of molecular techniques in hematology.
