Prof. Abdullah Büyükçelik, MD

Prof. Abdullah Büyükçelik, MD is a medical oncologist at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where he works in the Medical Oncology Department. He has more than 42 years in medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and then worked as an Internal Medicine Specialist at Ankara Sevgi Hospital from 1996 to 1999. He returned to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine for his Medical Oncology specialization between 1999 and 2001, and remained in the Department of Medical Oncology from 2001 to 2009, including a period in the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit from 2007 to 2009. He was appointed Associate Professor at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2006 and has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2009. He is a member of the Febril Nötropeni Association, the Medical Oncology Group, the Internal Medicine Association, the Medical Oncology Association and the Ankara Medical Oncology Association. His co-authored publications include studies on gastric adenocarcinoma, advanced pancreatic cancer, sarcomas and aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma, published in journals such as Tumori, European Journal of Cancer Care, Journal of Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology.

Clinical focus

Dr. Büyükçelik treats patients with lung and thoracic cancers, breast cancer, including male breast cancer, and colorectal cancers, covering both colon cancer and rectal cancer. His practice also includes kidney cancer, anal cancer and head and neck cancers.

In gynecologic oncology he sees patients with ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer, and he is also involved in the medical management of patients with brain tumors. As a medical oncologist, his role generally concerns systemic treatment and follow-up, discussed alongside the other specialties involved in a patient’s care.

How Dr. Büyükçelik works with international patients
